Eastern Wolf Presentation: Project Update
Guelph Masters student Chris Lim will be joining us to give a presentation about ongoing wolf research and data analysis at Shawanaga First Nation. There will be door prizes and copies of the summary report available.
Medicine and Snake Walk
Join us September 17th for a walk in the bog to to look for and collect medicinal plants. The SAR team will also give a snake teaching as we pass Massasauga hibernation sites.
Must have closed-toed shoes (rubber boots recommended).
Dress for weather! We will be walking through brush, damp marsh and rock outcrops.
Meet at Healing center for 1 PM.

Shawanaga Island BioBlitz
Join us for the 2nd annual Shawanaga Island IPCA BioBlitz! Our goal is to find and identify wildlife and plants to help document the amazing biodiversity of Shawanaga Island. This will be a great opportunity to learn about local wildlife, contribute to community science, and spend time on the Land.
Boat transportation to and from the island & lunch will be provided!
Feel free to join for one or both days! There will be an optional night of camping for those interested.

Annual Bat Night & BBQ
Please join SFN SAR and bat expert Derek Morningstar for our annual bat netting night on Church Street. Learn about the life of bats, why they are beneficial, and how we monitor bats in the community. There will also be opportunities to help band bats for those who are extra keen! Feel free to come by early for some free dinner starting at 7:30PM, with setup at 8PM, and nets opening at 10PM. We hope to see you there. NOTE: due to the rain, the date was changed to Tuesday, July 22nd
Creator's Garden Nature Walk
Join us at the Landing for a nature walk! Share and learn about plants and animals on an accessible walk led by Joseph Pitawanakwat from Creator’s Garden. Co-hosted by Georgian Bay Biosphere. Lunch is provided.
Earth Day - Landing Cleanup
The SAR team will be at the landing all day cleaning up garbage! We will also be installing a new kiosk with the help of Doug Pawis. Come down and join us to celebrate the earth!
7th Annual Fishing Derby
Come on down to the 7th annual Shawanaga FN Ice Fishing Derby!
Open to all SFN Members & 69 corridor FN communities.
